James Wall Goshin-jutsu Judo Seminar​

Date: October 10th, 2026

Time: 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM

Join Senseis James and Patty Wall of Wall-to-Wall Martial Arts for an in-depth study of Kodokan Goshin-jutsu, the Kodokan’s official self-defense kata. This seminar will cover all 21 techniques of the kata, including defenses against both unarmed and armed attacks. Participants will also practice Randori (free practice) and take part in Shiai (competition) simulations if time permits, gaining valuable experience in both traditional and competitive aspects of Judo. This seminar is open to beginners but is ideal for intermediate and advanced students seeking to deepen their understanding of Kodokan Judo, self-defense principles, and practical application in training and competition.

James Wall Youth Judo Seminar

Join Senseis James and Patty Wall of Wall-to-Wall Martial Arts, Louisiana’s largest Judo school, for a special youth Judo seminar focused on self-defense, skill development, and character growth. Students will be introduced to the first 12 techniques of Judo Goshin-jutsu, the official self-defense kata of Kodokan Judo, and will also receive instruction in Randori (free practice) and strategies for Shiai (competition). This seminar is an excellent opportunity for young Judoka to learn traditional Judo self-defense concepts while developing skills both on and off the mat. Judogi is required.

Martial Art Games for Kids

Join Sensei James Wall and Coach Decker for a fun-filled hour of martial arts-themed games and activities designed especially for children ages 4–6. Through exciting movement challenges, teamwork activities, and age-appropriate martial arts exercises, children will be introduced to important life skills such as discipline, courtesy, respect, focus, and self-confidence. This class emphasizes fun, participation, and positive encouragement while helping young Students develop coordination, listening skills, and good character. AAU Judo Coach Certification

Join Coach Decker and Sensei James Wall for a day of coaching continuing education. Participants must have a current AAU Judo membership, register for the James Wall Goshin-jutsu Judo Seminar and be present for 8 hours of mat instruction. Topics will include: the young martial artist, martial arts for the aging practitioner as well as AAU Judo competition rules and officiating. Participants will receive an AAU Judo Coach Education Certificate and an AAU T-shirt.

Mat Monkeys 1 - Martial Arts for Kids

Note to all participants, coaches, and parents:

 

This event is Sanctioned by the Amateur Athletic Association (A.A.U.). All participants MUST have a current AAU membership (and proof thereof). There is no registration fee for the scrimmage (practice tournament) and it is intended to be a cross club practice to promote friendship and improve Judo skills. All officials are volunteers and in training. Participants may be beginners, who have never competed before. Please be patient and models of good sportsmanship.
